Despite being half-brothers, Callum loves his little brother very much. When Rayla knew they would betray and kill the princes, she tried to warn Callum about it without success, so she made a diversion to prove they would betray them, where her distrust turned into hatred once again. Two years later, Rayla and Zym manage to remain friends. Even with Callum reassuring her that Viren had died and that she has nothing to worry about, Rayla still had the feeling that the mage would come back somehow. Regardless, Callum still risked going but not getting too far ahead of his aunt knowing that he had her sister's spirit she ventured with him. Due to many negative incidents, including betraying Callum's family, trying to order his assassination, declaring war on Xadia and causing collateral damage in the process, as well as attempting to slay both Zym and Zubeia, he changed his mind about Viren and now considers him the enemy that he became. Upon seeing Zym terrified at the sight of his father's remains, Callum comforted him, feeling sympathetic; that because of this war, they had both lost their fathers, despite his own hatred for Avizandum for killing Sarai. But that would have to wait as corrupted banthers soon overwhelmed the group, after a pitched battle, believing this to be the end, he apologized to Rayla for his behavior and held her hand prepared to go down fighting only to be saved by the Dragon Queen.
