Death was originally not a thing ever since Reapertale was created. But it was born due to the shift of the Balance that kept Reapertale stable. However, as the number of humans grew, the Balance of the world began to skew. With nothing to kill off these beings, the Balance will be tilted and everything will be abrupt into chaos. Asgore, Gerson, and Gaster knew about this risk, so they decided to make the only thing capable of countering life: Death.

He is the god of death alongside his brother, Reapertale Papyrus. He was created by the god of magic, Gaster. Sans was okay with what he had. Reaping sinful souls had been what he'd done for the past centuries, and he didn't enjoy it, but he could manage it. Unfortunately, after he had accidentally killed the person he loved, he went crazy and suicidal, with bits of his soul lost. Toriel helped him, getting back his sanity. However, his soul is still not complete, and he is still partially insane. He is back to normal, for the most part. He still can become uncontrollable and temporarily crazy sometimes, though. Sans doesn't like his job, but tries his best to hide it. He is calm most of the time and hides his feelings.

Sans wears a long black hood or cloak with a rope tied around his waist. He also carries a scythe and still has the same blue magic like his original counterpart. He has a constant grin spread across his face and has two eye sockets which rarely have pinpricks in them, otherwise they are empty. A trail of cyan light wisps from one of his eyes when he uses magic. He also has wings which he can summon and desummon at will. Similar to his original counterpart, Sans is often seen nonchalant towards those who address him.
