In , Heinz Tiede, a former store manager of the first-ever Carvel ice-cream stand in Hartsdale, NY, took over ownership of the roadside attraction featuring a chalet roof and 6-foot roof-top ice cream cone, which is still perched there today. Within the first few years, he added a limited food menu, outdoor seating, year-round hours, and of course, miniature golf. The next evolution came 26 years later in when Westchester-based, Joseph Fiore took over management of this one-stop crowd-pleaser from Tiede looking to continue the legacy of what makes the Red Rooster a neighborhood tradition. Fiore, already a restaurateur, also hails from a family with a long and varied history in the food industry. What makes the Red Rooster so special is its family atmosphere, strengthened through the stewardship of Andy Lintzeris and Jon Callahan.

Review by: Michael Stern. Still, there is a spacious parking lot and plenty of people eat in their cars or in one of three improbably small two-person booths opposite the order counter inside. Happy service, ingenuous cuisine, and car-culture ambiance are pure midth century America. Hamburgers are not too big, not odd in any way, just modest handfuls fashioned by grill chefs from never-frozen beef and sizzled on a smoky grill. They come plain or deluxe the latter with lettuce and tomato ; and side dishes include fat-bodied battered onion rings and crisp French fries. We recommend cheeseburgers gilded with an extra-cost order of onions that are grilled until limp and slippery and radiant with sweet onion perfume. The menu also lists all-beef hot dogs and fried chicken. In nice weather, customers can choose to eat at one of several picnic tables spread across the lawn in back. Ordered the bacon chesseburger through doordash bc I didnt have cash for inside the restaurant. I didnt realize that the burger did not come with any lettuce, tomato or onions but it was still good. It only had the cheese and bacon.
