As usual though, all opinions are my own. I recently started sewing denim and upholstery fabric. I really wanted an industrial machine. I am used to the industrial machines, they are fast, very fast and easily cope with heavy denims or upholstery. But, where I sew is upstairs and no lift, so in other words, no go.

The first machine I got from Heavy Duty line was Singer For the first three years, Singer machine was my main sewing machine; however, once I started sewing school, I decided to upgrade to industrial sewing machine, but kept this Heavy Duty for buttonholes, hemming with twin needle and if I need to use additional accessories. Singer Heavy Duty has 11 standard seams, 11 elastic seams, 1-step buttonhole which is very convenient; it took me a while to find right tension settings for buttonholes, but once I did, the buttonholes are coming out great. Machine also comes with several accessories, including different presser feet - the amount of presser feet included depends on what kit you're buying, but the most needed essential feet like zipper foot, invisible zipper foot, standard sewing foot are always included. What I like about this machine is that it can be compatible with a lot of different accessories that expand machine functionality. For example, I bought this presser foot set on Amazon for 20 USD and got 32 presser feet, so one foot costs less than 1 dollar, which is a great price.

Many other machines have the thread go from spool to needle through no more than 4 catches. I have almost 50 years of experience with Singer and other sewing machines so I did not need much tutoring, reviews singer 4423.

Marketed as Heavy Duty, this robust sewing machine advertises a metal interior frame, stainless steel bed plate, and a stronger motor. While being touted as heavy duty, the doesn't come close to the strength and power of an industrial machine, but it did make it through the heavier fabrics we tested with ease. This model earned an average score of 50 out of , but had the lowest price out of any models we tested. The received a 4 out of 10 in the most important metric — a somewhat paltry score. The first stitch that we tested on this machine, the long straight stitch, was plagued by persistent tension issues across our range of test fabrics. It wavered from too loose, to so tight that the bobbin thread was pulled through. The 's zigzag stitch was fine, with higher quality and consistency on the easier to sew fabrics, and dropped on the more difficult ones — like satin. It seemed to struggle a little with the scallop stitches, producing ones that were slightly subpar. It did an acceptable job at attaching the zipper, with no bunches or aberrant stitches around the end stop of the zipper, a problem other machines seemed to have.
