Revit floor
For the purposes of this tutorial, revit floor, we are going to work with Architectural Floors, rather than the Revit Structural Floor element. All you need to create a Revit Floor is a Level for it to reference- you do not need Revit Walls or columns, beams, etc top support the Floor element. Revit floor Model allows us to sketch out on screen the perimeter boundary of our Floor Element.
Recently, a friend was trying to convince me that Revit was a terrible tool to quickly draw a floor plan. In his opinion, you should use AutoCAD to draw the conceptual plan and only switch to Revit when you are ready for construction documents. Obviously, I strongly disagreed with him. I decided to create a guide that shows the best way to quickly create a floor plan. In this post, we might not follow the BIM best practices or create a fancy 3D model. The goal is to produce good-looking floor plans.
Revit floor
Hello, I am attempting to get a floor outline from Revit using RhinoInside. I have multiple interconnected floor elements floors of varying depths that are modeled on a given Revit Level. Additionally, my floor also has openings modeled so the overall floor representation Brep gets complex. I was wondering what the best methodology would be to extract these floor boundaries into Grasshopper, combine them, and get the external boundary representation of the overall floor slab. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! If you follow this steps you will get the external boundary of the overall slab. I will share the Grasshopper definition when i am available. Since Rhino. Have you tried the steps I described above? Did it work? If it did, please check this as solved. I hope this is what you are looking for. Thank you so much for your advice and for providing the grasshopper example. This will be very helpful!
This package has been downloaded revit floor of times and includes an eBook, video tutorials, a template and an exercise project.

Sketch Model allows us to sketch out on screen the perimeter boundary of our Floor Element. Obviously ensure you are in a Plan View to do this. When you do this, Revit will also add 2 additional short lines to one of the four sides- see no. Do not worry about this! They show you which way the floor spans, structurally. This can always be altered afterwards. The thing to note with your Boundary Lines is that they must form a continuous single boundary around the perimeter of your Floor Elements. No extraneous lines please!

Adjust the crop region of the view around the house. Make sure to use the correct type in the type selector. I hope this is what you are looking for. Since Rhino. No extraneous lines please! We made it easy with the link above to download all sorts of useful 2D families for plan views. You can see the various Layers that make up the Floor Type, when you take a Section through it. You should use coloured lines to distinguish from the model elements. It is located in the instance properties. Hi there, Grasshopper is not available at the moment, but i think following will help you: Deconstruct Brep , Get Faces List Item , Select the Face you want to extract its boundaries with its index Connect Curve node into its output, You will get boundaries of that surface. So we have a sketch and a chosen type. Apr Additionally, my floor also has openings modeled so the overall floor representation Brep gets complex.

On the blog you can find the latest cutting edge projects, innovative product design, and updates on industry trends. Same thing if you link CAD or another format. Doors are easy to create and control. Hey atkinson , Glad it worked. Type AL, click the detail line reference, then click the edge of the wall. Obviously ensure you are in a Plan View to do this. With our circle in place, we can now go ahead and get Revit to remake the 3D geometry of the Floor element, based upon this new sketch. In the example below, we use both the standard door and pocket door families. Good job. In the instance of the second floor view, activate the Underlay and set the Base Level to Level 1. Drag the dots to adjust the witness lines.
It is time to become reasonable. It is time to come in itself.
It is remarkable, rather valuable answer
Many thanks for the help in this question. I did not know it.
