In a pivotal move to address longstanding concerns over food deserts in Louisiana, Rouses Markets, the renowned local grocery chain founded in Houma, Louisiana, officially opened its North Baton Rouge store on Thursday, January 11th. The 44,square-foot supermarket, positioned at the intersection of Florida Boulevard and North Ardenwood Drive at Florida Boulevard, marks the 12th location in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area for Rouses Markets. Residents of North Baton Rouge, who have long navigated substantial distances to access a supermarket, welcomed the grand opening as a milestone. The new store employs over individuals across full- and part-time positions, emphasizing support for the local workforce. Customers will find all of the features they have come to love and expect at Rouses Markets, including chef-prepared foods and the largest variety of local options. Notable fresh food options include a deli department featuring Boar's Head products, and hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, complemented by hot soup and fresh salad bars and meals to go. The store elevates the culinary experience with additional offerings such as a sushi bar, poke bowls, and a Mongolian grill. A full-service seafood department with in-house seafood boiling room showcases an array of seafood sourced not only from the Gulf Coast but also around the country and around the world.
