This is a pre-main amplifier that is the highest grade model of Sansui's PB series and an upgraded version of AU d. Aiming for more faithful sound reproduction, it was developed by accumulating thorough hearing tests. The main amplifier section uses a 2-stage differential amplifier circuit and a fully connected system with two power supplies plus and minus without an output capacitor. This makes NFB uniform from the ultra-high band to the ultra-low band and improves various characteristics. The equalizer stage uses a 3-stage E-E NF type PNP silicon transistor with low noise, and achieves low noise, low distortion, wide dynamic range and high stability.

Designed specifically for the ardent audiophile, it features the refined dull black panels common to all AU series professional control amplifiers from Sansui. The pre-amplifier section is constructed of carefully selected low-noise PNP silicon transistors, while the power amplifier section features direct-coupled circuits specially developed with the improvement of tonal quality in mind. Together, they permit the AU to deliver a full watts 4 ohms in music power output with unprecedented tone quality. These include a tone selector circuit, an improved form of the triple tone control circuit that offers a choice in selecting the critical frequencies of tone control; a speaker selector which permits connecting three sets of speaker systems; a balance check switch which simplifies the job of adjusting for optimum balance of the right and left channel sound volumes; facilities to connect two phonographs and two tape decks, and a tape reprint circuit. Special provisions have also been made to permit the amplifier to be built up into an electronic crossover stereo system and permit comparing such a system with a standard stereo set-up. Has anyone had this issue with this model? Together, they permit the AU to deliver a full watts 4 ohms in music power output with unprecedented tone quality, sansui 999. But at least we agree on the SQ of the AU

I was lucky being in the right place at the right time to find it. Latest: MariTopHigh 26 minutes ago. I humbly ask thee one question: is the Sansui AU a quality, clear sounding amp? I feel the au sound very similiar to the n decided to sell it. As soon as i put a few listening hours under my belt i will post my opinions. Search forums. The AU was well designed and very well executed and the brand focused on making 'musical' and enjoyable hi-fi. On other amps I've changed both, - if anything, these upgrades makes the amp a better version of what it was before.
