The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth is nearly here , and we have some fantastic new cards to work with for casual and competitive Commander decks alike. On top of the cards just being cool, they're also, you know, from The Lord of the Rings. I love this. I'm so excited about this series of cards that I'll be providing a few different Legendary Creatures a look over the next few weeks, creating my own take on brewing them for competitive and casual Commander play. Some of those will probably be pretty low power, and some, like this week, will still be pretty powerful. Today's focus is Sauron, the Dark Lord.

Although Magic: The Gathering has always found inspiration in The Lord of the Rings, it wasn't until the much anticipated The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Universes Beyond set that any of the characters made it into the game.
