The shelves and storage in 5D is much more narrow than the same type of seat in 6D. Very private mini-compartment with comfortable sleep arrangement I am 6'1" and had plenty of room in the foot box.

I always choose American Airlines im my trips to US. The electronic shade does not get anywhere dark enough to block the heat from the Sun at high altitude. Seat 5 K is a standard Business Class seat that transforms into a fully flat bed. But seatbacks do not recline much more than those of economy or main cabin extra. Breakfast was served about an hour before arrival; it was yogurt, a warm roll, and what was probably the freshest, tastiest fruit I've ever had on an airplane. Very comfortable for seating but the lie flat is fairly hard and tight if you are over 6 ft. The amenity kit was Cole Hann and really nice. Entertainment is very good although it is a small screen that pulls up from the armrest. The is a beautiful aircraft - its unfortunate that United's "cram-'em-in" seat configuration and era cabin crew ruin the experience. Only 1 window at 5A and 5H. Overall for a long haul flight it's a good seat. This plane was designed to have 8 abreast in economy, instead there are 9. Best seats in business cabin are window seats A or L in rows Avoiding window seats in this configuration from now on. Sure, you have a lot of legroom.
