The Southeast Seattle Tool Library is a non-profit organization where you can borrow tools for home maintenance, woodworking, southeast tool library, gardening, and creative projects of all kinds. Tools are borrowed for a week at a time. This website lets everyone browse our tool collection and allows members to see what tools they have checked out.
SEPTL is a free community resource that provides home and business owners, and tenants, with hand and power tools they need to perform simple maintenance, tend to yards and gardens, and build awesome projects — while along the way meeting and sharing with neighbors. Only 4 members are allowed inside at a time, so a heavy dose of patience may be required. If you are becoming a new member, please be sure to s ign u p on our Join page before arriving! Maintain a minimum 6 ft social distancing. If possible please come alone and do not bring other household members or friends with you.

In , Joshua Epstein bought a house in Shoreline and began renovating the garage into a living space. There are around a dozen tool libraries operating in and around Seattle, some more specialized urban farming, business energy use and others, like NESTL, focused on tools for the home and garden. In addition, tool libraries help to keep broken materials out of landfills. Volunteers service and repair equipment throughout the lend-return cycle.
