Along with a brief synopsis of each chapter, this list also serves as a visual reference. This list does not include Space Marine Chapters that fall into the humour category. This list also does not include Blackshield forces or units as they are technically not full Space Marine Chapters, therefore, they fall into their own Blackshield category. This is an ongoing project, and as such, additional Chapters will be added or removed accordingly. For those Chapters that are missing from the list, please feel free to edit this article and add it, or if the Chapter article has been deleted, feel free to remove it. More than any of the other Warhammer 40k factions , Space Marines take the centre spotlight, whether in the lore-rich Horus Heresy book series , or the hundreds of distinct models backed up by rules in their Warhammer 40k codex army list. This Chapter is very rarely at full strength due to its highly active nature and willingness to intervene anywhere in the galaxy to protect the Emperor's people. It is rare for the Chapter itself to work with other Astartes. A Codex Astartes -Compliant chapter with a covert mandate to hunt down and eliminate Chimeric Astartes, the Aasvogels have become one of the most dangerous Chapters among other Astartes. However, due to the process utilised to recreate their sorely depleted numbers, they unexpectedly developed several idiosyncrasies unique to their Chapter. The Blades of Morkai are a non- Codex compliant chapter, who hail from the lineage of the ferocious Space Wolves, created during the Ultima Founding. The Apostles preference for diplomacy rather than all-out war which has made war-loving chapters such as the Space Wolves and Black Templars dislike the Apostles even more. They are know for being very good defenders, having a large fleet, extensive use of bolters and having close relations to the Inquisitors of Ordo Xenos. Currently, they are a fleet-based chapter and operate on the borders of Imperium-held space. Get help.
