Nelvana , which licensed and produced English adaptations of the original anime series, also localized the four seasons of Metal Saga. The series follows the adventures of Gingka Hagane, a Blader who is searching for his hidden past while trying to defeat the evil Dark Nebula organization, and Ryuga, a man with the Forbidden Bey known as Lightning L-Drago. The plot varies between manga and anime with several differences. One notable difference is that in the manga, the Beys transform for their upgrades, while in the anime, the characters just switch parts or get an entirely new Bey. Another difference is that, in the manga, the characters started with the Metal System 4-piece top , while in the anime they started with the Hybrid Wheel System 5-piece top. The series stars Gingka Hagane, a talented Blader traveling all around Japan to get stronger so he can defeat the Dark Nebula, an evil organization that is also responsible for the supposed death of Gingka's father, Ryo Hagane. Gingka aims to recover the forbidden Bey, Lightning L-Drago, which has been stolen by the Dark Nebula to use its powers to fulfill their wicked ambitions. Along with his bey, Storm Pegasus, Gingka must face and defeat many foes. Gingka's second-biggest rival is Kyoya Tategami, formerly head of a bad Blader group, called the Face Hunters. Kyoya's goal is to defeat Gingka. Gingka is the Blader who believes that every Blader has a Blader's spirit in them.

The Shogun Face Bolt depicts a European dragon , facing towards the left. The design of Dragoon is somewhat unusual, as the dragon's head is depicted with a short snout, similar to a dinosaur. The Dragoon Warrior Wheel features three dragon heads, resembling the design motif of L-Drago, its predecessor. Two heads circle half of its circumference laterally, while one head is flat on top, offering slopes upwards by its lower jaw and teeth. Two webbed wings cover the rest of the design, with claws encircling the hole where the orb from the Element Wheel is inserted. When used in a Synchrome combination as the top Warrior Wheel, Dragoon can deliver strong attacks, although the protrusions are small compared to other Warrior Wheels, and thus outclassed in sheer Attack power by other Warrior Wheels. However, Dragoon' s Left-Spin capability gives it an advantage over other more powerful Right-Spin Warrior Wheels because it is not affected by "Zero-G Attacks", which attempt to sway the stadium in the opposite Left-Spin direction.

It is the final regular release by Takara Tomy in the Metal Series. The Bahamut is traditionally portrayed as a sea monster gigantic fish, whale or sea serpent , but is typically designed in modern media with a dragonic or demonic appearance. The design also resembles Behemoth , as Bahamoote is the evolution of Behemoth in the Shogun Steel manga. Bahamoote is a large, round Warrior Wheel with a large amount of hollow space interrupted by ribs, similar to Gargoyle. The Bahamoote Warrior Wheel is the widest Warrior Wheel ever released, and features jagged protrusions and gaps throughout the design. The head of the Bahamut is at the top of the Warrior Wheel, with various protrusions representing its claws and wings. Gladiator is a symmetrical Element Wheel with four half-length swords circling its design. The overall shape created is four-sided, with rather abrupt edges. As its name suggests, the swords are likely based on those wielded by Roman gladiators. Spike SP is the third Spin Track of the height, and resembles Elevator E and Boost Disk BD , with a wide fixed disk that has four downward facing spike protrusions.
