It battered the south coast of Ireland earlier today with 70mph gale force winds and lashing rain. The storm is set to hit areas of northern England and Scotland later tonight, after the Met Office issued a string of weather warnings from 12pm and forecasters warn 'the worst is yet to come'. Much of the UK will be affected by the first named storm of the season, from the southwest of England to Scotland and across Northern Ireland. A severe 'danger to life' weather warning was issued over the weekend and was initially in place from 10am today until 7am on Thursday.
