As the original celluloid used to create the films were no longer available, the Studio Ghibli decided to choose an image from the film to create a limited edition - Cel Art - by choosing to reproduce the colours using the silkscreen process. The Studio's artists transcribed the chosen image into a collectible celluloid with the utmost care. The creation of the image was directly supervised by the film's director, Hayao Miyazaki. This limited edition was created in and printed in silk-screened copies and 10 off-the-shelf copies. Each copy was marked with Studio Ghibli's seal and the plates used to create them were destroyed.
