S mode- Will allow the use of 6th gear however, if the vehicle speed and engine speed exceeds or go below a preset level in response to the driver's downshift operation request, changing the shift range will be prohibited. In this case, the buzzer in the combination meter will sound to alert the driver.

I called my dealership and Toyota looking to get the actual RPM values, but alas they could not give them to me at the time of this writing. Also when tow-haul is activated with a trailer harness plugged in, the transmission will downshift for grade braking. Hells yeah! It drinks gas a lot faster if I leave the button engaged. Apparently pressing this button adjusts the shift points giving higher RPMs before shifting into the next gear, providing more response when pressing the throttle.
