The Night's Edge is a very powerful weapon in Pre-Hardmode with 42 damage and 4. To make a Night's Edge , the player needs four different swords. The Night's Edge is a post- Skeletron broadsword. When swung, the Night's Edge emits fire-like purple particles, similarly to the swords used in crafting it, but the effect is more subtle and does not last as long. It is notable for having the highest base damage of a sword available before entering Hardmode , although on the Desktop version , Console version , and Mobile version , it is tied with the Volcano at 40 base damage. On the Desktop version , Console version , and Mobile version , a purple aura comes off of the Night's Edge when swung, following the swing and increasing the range at which it can hit enemies. The aura also swings around a second time on its own, further increasing range and even covering behind the player. This aura can break pots through walls, but cannot damage enemies there. If the blade or its aura strike an enemy, a purple flash is created.

Notice its ability to reach two at the same time. While it lacks autoswing and has a slow swing speed, it has the second-longest reach and second-highest damage of all swords in Pre-Hardmode. The True Night's Edge is a melee weapon which swings at fast speed and is crafted with a Night's Edge , 20 souls of might, 20 souls of fright and 20 souls of sight.
