Recommended to me by a friend, The Black Bull Inn in Moulton near Richmond struck me by surprise as I expected an old-fashioned country pub but actually this is a very modern, open and stylish restaurant serving comforting, classic food with a bit of a fine dining feel to it. As the restaurant is based in North Yorkshire an hour away from my home, we decided to make a day of it and have a little walk around Richmond which was lovely, so I would recommend this too. Whilst you wait for your food, they serve fresh bread and oil which is always a nice touch. For starters I had the Soup of the Day — butternut squash and horseradish, topped with fried onions. Jamie went for the souffle made with a selection of local cheeses. This was light and creamy and also very tasty.
