Breath of the Wild treats armor differently than other Legend of Zelda games, and the sand boots are a typical example. The clothing, which lets you travel faster over sandy environments, is the reward for completing The Eighth Heroine side quest. Travel to Gerudo town in southwestern Hyrule. Though the Eighth Heroine was wiped from history and is not proven to exist, [6] Bozai sends Link in search of its Statue. During the Side Quest " The Heroines' Secret ", it is revealed the Eighth Heroine was actually an ancient Hylian voe who roused the Seven Heroines against a great evil and saved the Gerudo people, but afterwards was forbidden from entering Gerudo Town due to the law prohibiting a man's entry. The Gerudo would later regret this fact, and as penance, subsumed the Hylian into the Seven Heroines , with the truth eventually becoming lost to time.
