Though Joonwoo has shown to have a kind and selfless personality he has also shown to have a darker side and an explosive temper. After his breakup with Hamin Park, Joonwoo strength and fighting style improves to greater heights, able to ignore intense pain still able to fight with a sprained arm and cast and defeat multiple gang members at a time, surpasses Lee Taeyang in a fight and lands his first blow to Daehyun Im. He apologizes and walks away into the rain vowing to never like Seungah anymore. She does this many times throughout the story, calling him names to the anonymous person without her knowing that it's him that she's really texting. However, his sister at a young aged had noticed his selfless behaviour was a cause for concern when he took the blame for causing a fire, she started that got out of control. After that incident, she then again was beaten up badly by the same people, who caused a rift between Taeyang and Joonwoo. He acts full of regret to Joonwoo but after some viable information from Rira Seo, Joonwoo realizes Sung-wook is an opportunist and is only using Hamin for his own selfish needs.
