Aemon Targaryen is one of the smartest characters within Game Of Thrones , but he isn't one of the best fighters. During the time of the show, Aemon is coming towards the end of his life and he serves as an advisor to the group, helping them to make key decisions when needed. He does provide great council to other characters during tough times, but he isn't seen to be a prime warrior. He decides to give up his rights as a Targaryen, which is a brave move, but he isn't really the most skilled fighter of the bunch. Ultimately, Olly is only a young boy in Game Of Thrones , and because of that, he's never going to be one of the greatest fighters. For the most part, he stays out of the big fights and battles, mainly due to his age. However, he does prove that he has some ability when he kills Ygritte.
