His death marked the beginning of what would become a painful pattern associated with the necklace. The cycle of loss continued with the death of her lover, Dan, during a subsequent conflict. In an attempt to save him, Tsunade used her medical ninjutsu but failed, and Dan bled to death before her eyes. This traumatic event not only compounded her grief but also instilled in her a crippling fear of blood—a condition known as hemophobia. It was a severe handicap for someone of her vocation, effectively ending her career as a frontline medical ninja.
