A man with chainsaws for arms and a head rides a giant demon shark into a tornado made of intestines to fight a woman made of bombs. Just another day in the life of a Devil Hunter. The ones with a few screws loose and no screwdriver. This is a story of a boy who can turn his head into a chainsaw, written by Tatsuki Fujimoto of Fire Punch fame. You'd better believe it has some awesome moments. The little guy not only sacrifices himself , but also gives Denji a hell of a Let's Get Dangerous! One pull and he transforms for the first time, shredding zombies left and right like they're made of paper. After spending so many years exploiting him for his own gain, and the whole first episode establishing himself as a thoroughly repugnant individual, it's incredibly cathartic to see the Yakuza Boss, now reduced to a mere zombie, mindlessly walk into the carnage as Denji procedes to reduce him and his entire gang to hamburger meat, while cackling like an absolute lunatic. Denji, as he rips the zombies to shreds : Oh yeah! Once you jerks are worm food, it's bye-bye debt! Aki beats up Denji for not taking Devil hunting seriously enough in Chapter 3. Denji goes for the groin multiple times to prove his point to Aki: he may have become a Devil hunter for shallow reasons, but he's willing to die to keep living the good life. And then when Aki comes at him again, and thus has his guard up , Denji manages to score a crotch shot again.
You Monster! To bypass her Healing FactorDenji first chops her into bite-sized pieces, then cooks said pieces into dishes for him to consume.
Denji See Denji's page. Pochita See his page , but be warned that all Part 1 spoilers are unmarked. Makima See Makima and Nayuta's page , but be warned that all Part 1 spoilers are unmarked. Aki Hayakawa. They're still the enemy, we're just using them.
The suits are actually a kind of "armor" of sorts, being bulletproof and in most cases, can protect the wearer from fatal attacks. Brain Drain : The Public Safety agents who don't die on the job or quit the business entirely tend to move into safer devil hunting jobs in the private sector. The ones who stay long-term tend to either have a genuine interest in protecting the people, want revenge against devilkind, or just love fighting. Bulletproof Vest : Their suits are durable enough to let Aki survive the same attack that cut Denji in half. Creature-Hunter Organization : They're the government agency in charge of hunting dangerous devils. Freelance Devil hunting for profit is also legal, so Public Safety has to coordinate with private hunters to keep civilians safe without overlapping targets.

In the otherwise very distressing and despair-filled Chapter , one bright spot is an old lady seen trying to pull Nayuta to safety away from a psychotic Denji. The second girl he fell in love with also betrayed him. Is Serious Business : To show that Reze had gotten through to him, Denji momentarily rejects Makima in favor of running away with her. Just another day in the life of a Devil Hunter. Aki wants to kill it. Thus they wear Purely Aesthetic Glasses during their next attack. The Yakuza thinks this means it'll help them expand their business. Quanxi is a Devil Hunter working for China with exceptional physical ability. Despite this, he's shown to be quite clever and insightful when it comes down to it. Between that and the Control Devil's Vague Age in both of her incarnations, the implication seems to be that she's not nearly as humanlike as she portrays herself. After it is slain, Public Safety identifies it as the real Justice Devil. When they have ramen with Aki and Power later in the day, Himeno responds to inquiries about what they did last night by praising Denji as a gentleman. Furthermore, the series goes on to show how much it would suck to be a teenager who happens upon extraordinary power: his immaturity, emotional naivete, and relative vulnerability means that every government in the world and most of the adults he encounters want a piece of him to use him as a weapon. Unlike the other survivors, however, he isn't able to get his reattached afterwards.
Makima, the series' first Control Devil, revealing her true nature.
I wanna keep 'im! Not soon after drinking Denji's blood to regenerate, Denji slices the same wing off again as Chainsaw Man. While he does so with mild confusion, Denji makes good on Reze's offer to meet up at the cafe she works at. However, none of this works as Makima controls Denji into saving her. Scary Teeth : His teeth are unusually sharp looking even before becoming Chainsaw Man. She gets what she wants but the Chainsaw Man who consumes her is Denji and not Pochita like she wanted. When Trees Attack : It resembles a towering humanoid tree covered in fur. Blue-and-Orange Morality : Devils have a Kill All Humans general attitude, but it seems that it's an instinctive hatred towards humanity and they will do anything to make them suffer, even if it means taking up contracts with said humans. Painting the Medium : Denji's dialogue is always written in a looser, messier font than the other characters to reflect his total lack of formal education. Given the Zombie Devil shows there can be devils for imaginary concepts, her resemblance to the futakuchi-onna may not be a coincidence in-series. The Worf Effect : To demonstrate how strong Yoru got from her upgrade, she effortlessly cuts her way out of being constricted by a tentacle when Octoous has effortlessly grappled everything else. Voice of the Legion : It talks with many different mouths, possibly independently. His increased domestic responsibilities see him taking on various side hustles such as scamming homeless people with recycled cigarettes and letting people sit on him for a modest fee. Both manage to escape perilous situations unharmed, Denji by regularly regenerating himself , while Kobeni often survives thanks to dumb luck. Said chapter contains a full Splash Page dedicated to Quanxi and her girlfriends in the middle of a particularly steamy sex session, so the warning is pretty warranted.
