The selected individual will lead a diverse group of faculty and staff members and will oversee all aspects of the Department, including clinical practice, education, research, and fiscal management consistent with unc anesthesiology strategic planning of the UNC School of Medicine, UNC Hospitals and UNC Health. The Department of Anesthesiology is nationally recognized for its excellence in clinical care, unc anesthesiology, research and education. The department is comprised of more than faculty, staff and trainees who sustain and drive the tripartite mission to provide the unc anesthesiology quality patient care to all people through innovation, world-class research and training the next generation of surgical health care professionals and scientists.

UNC Anesthesiology is committed to providing the best possible care for our patients. Our team includes more than individuals, including faculty, residents, fellows, CRNAs, anesthesia techs, nurse practitioners, researchers, and support staff. We provide a full spectrum of expert anesthesia care to over 60, patients of all ages each year—outpatient surgery, invasive inpatient procedures, elective operations, and emergencies. We provide pre-operative care, care after surgery in the intensive care unit, and acute and chronic pain management. In addition to providing outstanding clinical care, the Department is a national leader in education and research, striving to improve standards of care.
