BBC star Vernon Kay pushed his weary legs to the limit as he completed the third day of his Ultra ultramarathon challenge - and got a hero's welcome as he entered Manchester. His third day was the hardest - having to tackle Kinder Scout in the Peak District before heading down into Stockport and then on to his final pit stop of the day at Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground where he was greeted by a huge crowd of supporters. On Friday, he left Old Trafford just before 7am to take the final leg of his journey to his home town of Bolton. He will weave through Salford before heading north west through Linnyshaw, Little Hulton and the edges of Bolton via Middlebrook. The finish line after miles is at the Toughsheet Stadium home of Bolton Wanderers where Zoe Ball will be broadcasting live. A huge crowd of fans is expected to cheer him home. At Marple Bridge huge crowds greeted Vernon, and he had a pub pit stop with a chip butty.
