Is the traffic any better going from Brooklyn to Staten in the morning, and back to Brooklyn after work? There is way less traffic going to Staten Island in the morning then vice versa. You should be good for the evening rush hour too because most of the traffic is commuters returning to Staten Island and Jersey. The weekends, especially Saturday ,can be different.
