He got a speeding ticket and has to complete 20 hrs. I have inquired with a few places and I did not have a good feeling about them. My son is a good kid and I'm not going to allow him to be treated like some hardened criminal. If anyone has anything here in Bartow please let me know. Like VFW Posts across the nation, Post members gather to nomination [March] and, subsequently, elect officers [April] who will lead the local posts forward for the new administrative year. An administrative year effectively begins at the conclusion of the Department Convention [usually in late June] and concludes at the following Department Convention. Ultimately, the Post membership elects four 4 members while the Commander elect appoints three 3 members. Prior to the opening of nominations, the Post must determine the balloting method, election date and time, procedure for tallying votes, and procedure for tie-breaker rules. Any member of the VFW Post can nominate another member for an elected officer position. For example, if Comrade Smith wishes to nominate Comrade Thompson as Post Commander, but Comrade Thompson is not able to make the meeting to accept nomination, he or she must give Comrade Smith a signed letter that states the acceptance of nomination, and that letter must be presented to the current Post Adjutant prior to the opening of nominations.
