A Tasmanian police officer who attended a serious crash that injured five harness racing employees and then wrote to the head of Tasracing with concerns was taken off the case after the racing boss spoke to a more senior officer, documents reveal. Under questioning in government business enterprise hearings in parliament on Wednesday, Mr Jenkins said he then contacted a "senior member of Tasmania Police" after receiving the email to "determine whether the email was an official position or request". The documents show a more senior officer — Acting Inspector Stuart Greenwood — emailed Mr Jenkins the day after the initial correspondence was received, stating the investigation was "now sitting with specialist crash investigators who fall under my direct supervision in Launceston".
