I just realised we had been to many Korean restaurants lately as reflected on my restaurant review posts. Wagyu House Sydney is located on the busy Parramatta Road, Croydon — not exactly easy to get to by public transport. For that reason, we often passed this restaurant and yet never tried it for years. Only recently, we came to hear more about this place, how good their meat qualities and really good value for money. First of all, as mentioned above its location is not close to any train stations. So, easiest transport options would be driving or by bus. Do note that they do not have big parking area, perhaps enough for 10 cars or so.

With charred wooden tables and red plastic chairs, this outdoor-verandah-turned-open-air-restaurant looks like a disaster waiting to happen, but the barbecue offerings here are so good that nobody minds! Wagyu House definitely has a reputation for serving premium meats, so much so that people travel from all over Sydney to enjoy a meal here including us! Get yourself a plate and load up on beef, lamb, sausages, seafood, pork and chicken - go big or go home! Despite it being a buffet, Wagyu House serves high quality meat, and the turnover is so high that you can be assured the meat never sits out for too long. Let your meat grill over the charcoal, cutting into small bite size pieces with the scissors provided. While the meat is cooking, get your lettuce ready with a smear of ssamjang soy bean sauce and kimchi if you like a bit of spice. Once the meat is cooked to your liking, dip your meat in a little sesame oil mixed with salt, wrap in your lettuce and enjoy! While the main attraction at Wagyu House is definitely their quality meat offerings, they have a good range of sides to fill you up too. They also have ice cream and fruits for a simple dessert after your cooking is done. Wagyu House Butcher Korean restaurant is one of a kind and I love it! The restaurant is surreal; bright plastic chairs, shining slim exhaust pipes — all arranged to Korean exacting precision. Turn into the artificial green coloured driveway and to your left will be the butchers and to your right, the restaurant. Then you can grab your meat from the butcher and cook it at your table in the restaurant. You can see and choose any variety parts of the meat what you would like to buy an grill them on the Korean traditional charcoal. Very tempting, though sadly for us, not this time. The prompt arrival of a selection of 12 banchan sides dishes makes for an impressive start; the kim chi is the right age for noodlies, sour but not sharp, shredded white radish is delicately moreish. All three dishes arrive at the same time the fortune of being early.
