Waking the dead

The screenplay by Robert Dillon is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Spencer, waking the dead. The film flashes back and forth between the s and s and centers on the relationship between Fielding Pierce, a young Coast Guard officer with political ambitions, and idealistic Roman Catholic Sarah Williams, who is drawn to programs designed waking the dead better the lives of the underprivileged and has mixed feelings about his career goals. In the opening scene, Fielding sees a television news program reporting Sarah's death in a Minneapolis car bombing following a church-organized excursion to Chile to feed the poor and organize resistance to the oppressive Pinochet dictatorship.

As a police team begin work on the five-year-old cold case of a teenage girl's murder, they inadvertently inspire the killer to strike again. The team exhume the first victim to find clues with new DNA techniques. When Boyd thinks he is getting closer, he finds he is facing one smokescreen after another. Contains violence. When Detective Superintendent Boyd encounters a woman unable to accept the explanation of her father's death, he takes on the case. When a skeleton is discovered in a Church crypt Boyd and his team suspect it was never meant to be found. The team interview the local community and awaken deeply hidden family secrets that force Boyd to look at his own past. Frankie learns that the skeleton and a priest may be related as both show symptoms of Huntington's Chorea. The hunt is on for the killer and the victim's mother. Waking the dead

Waking the Dead is a British television police procedural crime drama series that was produced by the BBC featuring a fictional Cold Case unit comprising CID police officers, a psychological profiler and a forensic scientist. Nine series of the show were broadcast over the course of eleven years. Boyd decides to have a second attempt at cracking the case of Alice Miller, a young girl who was raped and murdered five years ago, but whose killer was never identified. Although the case was deemed cold at the time, Boyd's second investigation leads to a surprise turn of events, spurring the killer out of hiding, and forcing him to abduct a second girl, Jodie Whitemore. Realising that his actions have resulted in the girl's abduction, Boyd is forced to play catch-up as the killer sends him information regarding the girl's whereabouts. Boyd has Alice Miller's body exhumed, hoping that new DNA tests may reveal the killer's true identity, and provide clues as to the location of the missing girl, Jodie. However, the killer is keen to kill again, and it's a race against time for Boyd to save the missing girl. When the team pinpoint the girl's location, they use Mel as bait to lure the killer out.
