Please note this area is well known for tiger snakes in the summer time. I have seen a snake in the main section of the park heading over one of the main paths so the grass areas will definitely have them. Keep an eye out. A few years ago, there was a fire in the area in some old wharf piles and the fire fighters couldn't get close due to the number of snakes fleeing the fire area so take care. Westgate Park is located just below the Westgate Bridge on the city side of the Yarra. It's not my favourite circuit but a lot of people use it as a lap training ride as it's close to town and the park is gradually recuperating from years as a tip into a half decent wetland area.

It comprises largely gravel surface tracks throughout the park which are shared with walkers but the trails are wide and there's usually not too many people around.

We won in '21 and '22 and we were going for the three-peat in ' We've left a legacy for the younger guys to follow and for them to come back next year and go for the four-peat. Thanks to Boutte and Dedrick Latulas and a number if others, Westgate pulled off the three-peat with 68 points, holding off second place Tioga with 59 points and third place Vandebilt Catholic with 55 points. Boutte did his part winning the and meters and finishing fourth in the Latulas won the long jump, the triple jump and was third in the hurdles and the two also ran a leg on the winning 4xmeter relay team. The Tigers also got a second place from Armi'dre Evans in the hurdles and a bunch of other points here and there to take home the title on a day that saw the start of the meet delayed about four hours because of thunderstorms. The majority of the field events were eventually moved into LSU's Carl Maddox Fieldhouse and the running events finished about 11 p. Thomas More's Richard Seymour in the javelin.

Be aware when riding through long grass there are old sleepers, bricks, etc in the grass which can bring you to a prompt halt if you hit them unexpectedly. It was a pretty ordinary bit of XC trail mainly used for crit racing and ok for being local in the city. Only ever see riders either passing through on a roadie or creepy dudes on the prowl. The orange tracks above are the main trails in the main park area. The section across the bottom of the main park area is single trail which uses a small hill to create rises and falls. Its a shame that on that side of Melbourne there aren't any trails till you get to You Yangs which really aren't too far away. Over the years apparently the garden people there were removing track on their own volition and sections of land got closed off so there really isn't much left. Still it does make you think of going elsewhere. I will have to check that out next time I am down in Melbourne. Forums New posts Search forums.
