You'll create an original superstar at the start, and follow them through their journey in the WWE, learning the basics of the business and eventually appearing on WWE live shows. Depending on the choices you make as a Company Man or Fan Favorite superstar, you'll have different rivalries, matches, and events that happen to you each week. Either way, the ultimate goal is to be in the main event at Wrestlemania and garner your superstar's own Wrestlemania moment. When you first begin a new MyCareer in MyPlayer, you will have to create a custom superstar from scratch. You'll choose their overall appearance and move-set, which can be changed later as you complete more matches and objectives in MyCareer. You can have up to three separate MyPlayer Superstars. Once you have chosen the look and fighting style of your wrestler, you can begin your MyCareer. The beginning of your superstar's journey in the WWE starts with the WWE Performance Center, which gives you a tutorial of the game's mechanics and various matches.

This opens up a number of fun options, especially for big men like Braun Strowman, who can hoist smaller wrestlers up and then power bomb them straight out of the ring. Hot tags have also been revamped to occur more frequently and no longer have cutscenes associated with them that interrupt the action. When a character receives a hot tag, they simply come in with a buff that allows them to run roughshod over anyone in the ring. Nothing saves Universe from feeling dull and repetitive. Universe Mode feels all but untouched since last year. There are some small tweaks to rivalries and some new cutscenes to make matches feel more like the real thing, but nothing that saves Universe from feeling dull and repetitive.

You don't necessarily have to only follow one of them - you will progress through both during your MyCareer, based on your MyPlayer m atch performances, promos, alliances, side quests and other actions.
