Burris has worked in online education for over 18 years and was able to provide some great information and tips based on her experience using Blackboard in her online courses. Plagiarism is always a concern no matter the modality of a course. SafeAssign is a tool built into Blackboard that compares assignments to various databases looking for originality. Once you enable this feature for an assignment all turned in work will be checked four sources: DCCCD database, Blackboard database, various industry databases Proquest, ABI, and Inform , and the internet. They will be able to see if they cited a work incorrectly and learn to correct for future assignments.
