Each two-hour session focused on SafeAssign, adaptive release, grade center tips and tricks, and Respondus LockDown. Burris has worked in online education for over 18 years and was able to provide some great information and tips based on her experience using Blackboard in her online courses. Plagiarism is always a concern no matter the modality of a course. SafeAssign is a tool built into Blackboard that compares assignments to various databases looking for originality. Once you enable this feature for an assignment all turned in work will be checked four sources: DCCCD database, Blackboard database, various industry databases Proquest, ABI, and Inform , and the internet. Each submission will receive an originality report. This tool will help not only the instructor but the student as well. They will be able to see if they cited a work incorrectly and learn to correct for future assignments. The semester can be frustrating for faculty when you have to create assignments as they are needed throughout the term. Adaptive release is the tool you can use to remove this frustration. Instructors can set their course for the entire semester including assignments and content that will not be available until later in the term. You have the flexibility to make content available at specific dates or even after specific milestones have been reached within the course. The grade center is the main resources all faculty utilize.
