Zwift fondo workout for those joining Zwift's Fondo training plan. This is a welcome workout designed to introduce you to both workout mode and our new flex-time structured training plans. This workout is designed to help you get a sense if your FTP Functional Threshold Power is set correctly, though it is a good workout even if you're already confident in your FTP, zwift fondo. An accurate FTP is critical to getting the most out of Zwift's structured workouts.
Introductory workout for those joining Zwift's Bambino Fondo training plan. For the Bambino Fondo training plan, we will have three workouts a week: two interval workouts of about 50min each during the week and a long ride on the weekend. This workout consists of two rounds of progressively harder - but shorter - intervals in the sub-threshold zones. Long base ride to give the endurance needed to tackle the Zwift Fondo. We will increase the overall duration of this workout each week while maintaining a similar structure for the workouts. The focus here is on foundational fitness which will support the shorter and harder mid-week intervals. Long tempo intervals here to get you used to sustained higher effort that will help power you up and over the longer climbs.

Fondo weekends will happen once a month for three months, beginning this weekend and ending the last weekend of January Each month will feature different routes, most not used in Zwift fondos of years past. Riders can choose between a short, medium, and long route traditionally called the Bambino, Medio, and Gran Fondo, respectively. As the series progresses each month, the short, medium, and long options get slightly longer. This year, you can unlock a different fondo kit each month by completing any of the three fondo distances. These kits are exclusive, meaning they will never be available anywhere else. The winter series, comprising of three separate events and trio of distances, gives users the chance to ride around Wattopia with thousands of other people in a non-competitive race environment. The principal aim of each Fondo is to complete the route, challenging yourself against the distance and the clock. There is no shortage of preset workouts available to download and use, with most found on whatsonzwift. The general plan is to do three workouts a week over the selected time period, the sessions ranging from harder intervals in sub-threshold Zones, to above-threshold riding for shorter periods. Longer rides are obviously helpful to build endurance, but many workouts will still insist on some high effort sprints or riding during such sessions. There are also long tempo intervals to follow to train the rider to sustain a higher effort on the longer climbs.
