The One Ring was the physical embodiment of Sauron's greed, domination and cruelty. Many figures in Middle Earth would be tempted by the power of the Ring and would be granted dreams of what it could offer them. However, the reality was that the Ring would destroy the minds of all but the most powerful, and those who could master it would see themselves become worse than the Dark Lord himself. In the end, the Free Peoples realized that the best option would be to destroy the Ring and remove the temptation forever. The factions of the Free Peoples rely on Hobbit ring bearers. These hobbits, while weak in combat, offer multiple supportive bonuses including a very strong leadership. The one exception to this rule is Adventure: Arthedain, which instead summons a unique and powerful version of Elrond.
