The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an incredible game, both in terms of critical acclaim and sheer size. Few aspects of Link's latest sprawling adventure exemplify this as well as the sheer number of shrines - miniature dungeons focused solely on puzzle solving. Finding all of the shrines in Breath of the Wild is a massive undertaking, especially when you take time to consider that many of the shrines are hidden. Fortunately, we here at Nintendo Life have invested a great deal of time in uncovering every single shrine you can find in Hyrule. We've sorted all of the shrines by the section of the map they're located on.

Shrines are located across the span of Hyrule - from the heights of its sky to its greenest field and even hidden away in caves. To make this page easier to navigate we've divided the Shrines on the surface up by Skyview Tower region and the ones found on the sky islands by their specific sky region, such as the Lanayru Sky. If you'd like to learn more about Link's quest across Hyrule, visit our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough. These Shrines are spread across both the ground and skies of Hyrule, with Shrines on Hyrule itself and 32 in the skies. Due to this, you'll need to travel across land, investigate caves and soar through the skies to find them all! There are no Shrines within The Depths. Instead, you'll be able to find Lightroots, which, when activiated, will light up a section of The Depths and add this area to your map. Every Lightroot location corresponds to a Shrine location on the surface, so, if you find a Lightroot, this means you've also technically found a Shrine. You still, however, have to find this Shrine on the surface to have it appear on your map. Below you'll find overview maps for all of the Shrine locations both on Hyrule and within the sky. After these maps lie detailed location lists and maps for all of the Shrines, including whether they're connected to a Shrine Quest or within a cover, divided by Skyview Tower regions for the surface and sky region for the ones on the sky islands.
But thank you Nintendo Life for the means to do so.

Breath of the Wild is filled with over Shrines scattered throughout the Overworld. Only the first four shrines on the Great Plateau are required in order to complete the game. Shrines serve two main functions. Simply arriving at the shrine and putting the Sheikah Slate on the pedestal will unlock the shrine as a teleport spot, which can be traveled to at any time, even when within a shrine or dungeon. The secondary function is to enter the shrine and complete it for a Spirit Orb. Four Spirit Orbs can be turned in to any Goddess Statue for your choice of a heart container or a stamina upgrade. Later in the quest, Link will unlock a sidequest which will allow him the ability to change these choices. Shrines often contain unique treasure that cannot be acquired elsewhere, such as pieces of armor sets, or rare weapons. If you unlock the teleport point, but save the shrine for later, the inner portion of the icon will show as red on the map.
