As a registered Dance Studio that specialises in teaching the Wedding Dance and Bridal Waltz, helping Bridal couples with their first dance achieve their dreams, Ballroom Dance-In offers simple, easy-to-learn dance classes throughout the Central Coast. Learning to dance is a lifetime activity that can be shared with family, friends, partners, singles and couples and is uniquely a universal social recreation and sport. She teaches the Active over 50s in conjunction with the Central Coast Health Promotion Unit for the prevention of osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, and falls prevention. She teaches the intellectually handicapped, and vision impaired, and at schools for PE: electives and their social dancing. Helen was honoured with two special achievements in her professional capacity one was being asked to partner with the author of the New Vogue Sequence Dancing, Neville Boyd, in the very first New Vogue and English Old Time technique Video Presentations that were introduced throughout Australia and overseas. The other honour was receiving the Australian Centenary Medal to commemorate the Centenary of the Federation of Australia for services to the centenary year, which included promoting the Central Coast Ballroom Dance Championships. Helen recognised the need for quality Dance Shoes for men, ladies and children and has enjoyed a year business relationship with Diamant Dance Shoes Germany as their agent. Helen says that as a professional dance teacher and coach, she still remembers her learning experiences as a beginner. Argentine Tango relies heavily on improvisation and is danced in an embrace that can vary from very open, in which leader and follower connect at arms length, to very closed, in which the connection is chest-to-chest, or anywhere in between. Tango is essentially walking with a partner to the music. Dancing appropriately to the emotion and speed of a Tango is extremely important. A good dancer is one who transmits a feeling of the music to the partner, leading them effectively throughout the dance. Bachata is a Latin dance from the Dominican Republic characterized by sexy body movement, syncopated footwork and free style moves that alternate between closed and open position. Balboa is a classic swing dance that originated around the same time as Lindy Hop; it emphasizes partnership, a close embrace, and quick tempos. Lauren and Peter specialize in teaching one of the original swing dances, Collegiate Shag, known for its dynamic movement and fun footwork.
