British beauty Psylocke is a mutant with vast telepathic and telekinetic powers that she can focus into deadly weapons. She is a stealthy martial artist, a former fashion model and longtime X-Man. Below are just some of the best Psylocke Cosplayers from around the world…. Her strong telekinetic and telepathic powers and fighting skills make her a legitimate threat to any Sentinel on their best day! I chose to cosplay this version because it has never been done before and the Dark Angel Saga story arc is such a good, dark one. Psylocke is one of my favourite characters to cosplay because she is such a powerful character.

Betsy Braddock was originally a British Caucasian woman with blonde hair in her earliest appearances, though she later dyed her hair purple as an adult when she became a model. However, after her time with the X-Men led to her forcibly switching bodies with a Japanese ninja named Kwannon, she became the Psylocke fans knew and loved for the next twenty years. However, Kwannon's mind was also switched into Betsy's old body, and she put together a costume of her own that was right at home in the 90s, calling herself Revanche. Interestingly enough, the color scheme of pink and purple screamed Betsy, but the silver straps, pouches, and random devices on the arms distracted more than enhanced her first costume in Betsy's body. She wore what would come to be considered Betsy's classic costume which was really only worn before her time with the X-Men. The all-pink costume showcased Betsy's love of puffy sleeves, but it works much better with her classic costume than it did for her Captain Britain look. The pink color scheme comes from Betsy's use of her telepathy, which is visually represented by pink butterfly-like energy wings that form around her eyes.

While I recognize this particular part of her story is wildly problematic, this is the costume I have always associated with the character Psylocke. It was pretty simple to make for me, and in these times, having smaller costume goals that are more easily achievable than massive in depth armour builds really helps you feel that sense of completion more quickly than an ongoing project would. I will explain a bit about how I made my cosplay using my own self-drafted pattern blocks, which if you have any, you can apply these techniques to create your own pattern for similar costumes!
