It is somewhat heavier than most other straight swords, such as the Long Sword. It scales best with Strength , and due to its early availability it makes a good choice for an early game weapon. What sets the Dark Sword apart from its peers, however, is its skill, Stomp , which is a skill normally only seen on greatswords and ultra greatswords. Using the skill will grant the wielder Hyper Armor , something that is otherwise only seen on heavier weapons, allowing players to trade against opponents wielding similarly-sized weaponry.
