Bonfires are the checkpoints of Dark Souls , but they also serve other useful purposes. When the player encounters a new Bonfire, it must be lit, or rested at to serve as the new spawnpoint if the player should die. After the player lights the Bonfire and rests there, several options are available. Some will also become available later when certain stats or conditions are met or items are aquired. Players can level up to reinforce their stats at the Bonfire. Players can do weapon reinforcement at the Bonfire after purchasing a Weapon Smithbox. Players can do armor reinforcement at the Bonfire after purchasing an Armor Smithbox.

I just went down to join Papa Nito's new army and obtain the "Rite of Kindling" from Pinwheel, and was hoping to head down to Nito in order to farm humanity, but because I went straight to Vamos and used the new bonfire I'm now stuck without a way to get back. As long as you activate all the bridges or have the warp ability you'll be fine, but my character is now unplayable due to this, I usually drop into Vamos' area first in order to kill the necromancer and black knight from behind, and then finish the rest of the upstairs bit before going deeper past Pinwheel, but I did not take into account that I would respawn at the bottom of the catacombs, with no way of activating the third bridge. If there is a way to activate the third bridge, or another way back to the rest of the game, I'd appreciate the help. Limelol 5 years ago 2. Make sure you jump down at the right spot, otherwise you'll fall to your death. There's a breakable wall you need to break.

In this cold, dark world, the Beacon Fire is a place of warmth. It's one of the few locations in the game that is heartwarming. It expresses this dark fantasy world I'm trying to create. The image of a knight sitting cross-legged in front of a lonely fire has become one of the iconic images of the series, and arguably gaming as a whole. Many games have since co-opted this imagery, from survival games to indie darlings like Hyper Light Drifter.

I have a weird question: if the last bonfire you rested at is one that has lost its fire keeper, thus extinguishing it, what does the game do when you die? Players may not rest at a bonfire if there are enemies nearby. What do you need help on? This counts as resting at the bonfire, so all spell casts will be recharged, Estus refilled, enemies respawned etc. How does the Moonlight Greatsword's R2 attack compare to soul spear spells?
