Ergo proxy explained

Ergo Proxy is a anime series that fits into the sci-fi, mystery, and cyberpunk genres. I have a hard time understanding it on a good day. This post will be the first in a series of 23 posts exploring and discussing Ergo Proxy episode-by-episode. Each post will contain an episode synopsis and then a discussion section which will include any trivia I can dig up. Please bear in mind that this series may take a long time. The time is the distant future, and the setting is a cyberpunk dome city called Romdeau. The world has become unlivable, so most of humanity supposedly left long ago. The rest have taken shelter in protected cities like Romdeau. The technology of these metropolises is advanced, and there are numerous androids called Autoreivs that assist humans. It seems that some of these infected Autoreivs have been attacking humans. The impression is also made that, even without crimes being committed, the Autoreivs would be captured and reset to eliminate their newfound Egos. Whether or not any Autoreivs actually killed humans is not made clear in the series, but they are being blamed for the deaths of forty-two humans in one night.

All this culminates in Vincent rediscovering who and what he is, in order to realise thanks to meeting the other Proxies that he is a creator of domes and pseudo-men, ergo proxy explained, created by men and intended to burn away as soon as ergo proxy explained earth got healthy again and the skies cleared up — which is about to happen when the series take place.

A couple of nights ago I completed watching Ergo Proxy so my feelings are still achingly fresh. I started this series with high hopes based off positive reviews and a number of recommendations that were given. Initially, the reviews seemed to be correct and I felt I had made a good choice in choosing to watch the show. If you have read my earlier posting when I started watching the show, you could see that I was enjoying it. The heavy philosophical tone was a compelling reason for me but as the series progressed it got lost with unnecessary episodes that even after further thought really showed no purpose.

Well I'm back with another blog. Last week my Ergo Proxy blog was featured and I saw a lot of people mentioning in the comments that they didn't understand the plot of the series or they didn't enjoy it Because they didn't understand it. So Im gonna share the theory I personally believe suits the best. And I hope it'll give you guys a better understanding of the series. And feel free to share what you thought about the series of your personal opinion about it down at comments. Well first of all I should mention that the series takes place in a post apocalyptic future where a ecological disaster took place. The reason for this tragedy was probably rapid climate change followed by a string of methane hydrate reserve explosions. A certain number of them have managed to escape from earth. Their in a spaceship ark located in an orbit called the 'Boomerang Star'.
