When that doesn't work, he engages in a series of stunts that fail. At the Drunken Clam, the guys note that Peter looks exhausted but feel good for Chris, hoping that whatever gal or guy he meets makes him happy. Peter gets an idea and proposes a Vermont gay marriage to Chris that night.

When Chris visits his grandfather, Carter who has a broken leg and shows him how to have fun while Babs is away, Carter decides to leave his vast fortune to Chris when he dies. Chris, however, doesn't want the money as he just wants companionship and Peter who does want to make sure Carter's money goes to someone when he dies pulls his sickest stunt yet to make sure the Pewterschmidt fortune is safe: marrying his own son. At the urging of Peter and Lois, Chris and Meg are tasked with taking Stewie to a friend's birthday party at the bowling alley, with Peter and the guys doing their own bowling on the side. After the party, Meg offers to stay behind and help Bruce clean up, during which he laments the fact that he wants to have a kid. Knowing there aren't many suitors lined up for her, Meg offers to be Bruce and Jeffery's surrogate, much to the disapproval of her parents. Meg goes through with the implantation and proceeds to carry the pregnancy, but her constant mood swings and other needs get on her family's nerves. Meg eventually gives birth a daughter named Liza one montage later, but following some hesitation from Bruce and Jeffery, she offers to raise her for a bit while they finish getting their home ready. While Peter is enthralled by the new arrival, Lois is concerned when Liza's dads don't show up as promised, despite loving the idea of becoming a GILF. Meg, meanwhile, grows to love having Liza around, feeling that motherhood gives her life purpose. When Bruce and Jeffery eventually show up to visit their daughter, Lois calls them out on their seeming negligence, before Bruce reveals that it was due to Meg constantly telling them to delay picking her up, not wanting to part with the first living thing that needs her.
