Walking Football is a relatively fast game of small sided Football, with simple rules designed to keep you safe:. We have close ties and share common interests with other local Essex clubs and also have a large and well established Ladies team. Our philosophy is to have fun and maybe get fit at the same time. So, not only are we an amateur Sports Club, but we're also a closely knit social hub, where you will always find new friends. Established in , Hawkwell Athletic Walking Football Club has gone from humble beginnings with Southend United and with just 2 or 3 players. It can now boast a membership of over 80 players including a well established ladies or women's team. The female members play football on a Tuesday, just after the men. There is a further men's training session on Saturday mornings and a Sunday afternoon Ladies session planned for the near future. Training sessions consist of warm up and stretching exercises, followed by round robin matches between the members, with teams consisting of anything between 5 and 9 players, with as many as 6 teams at a time. We do have players and members that travel from East London. We often play away from home, in competitions, festivals and friendlies. Always good on a nice sunny day, a kick around and possibly a beer or cream tea afterwards, what more could anybody want. The fitness aspect is important, we often get referals from Southend Hospital and MacMillan. Weight loss is slow and steady and tends to stay off and it is an excellent cardivascular exercise, without to much stress.

The Maxwell Football Club presents several national and regional awards at the Professional, Collegiate, and High School football levels.
