The League of Legends is essentially an in-game reason for the game League of Legends to exist. Everyone on Runeterra was at war with each other and things were real bad. After two great wars it was determined that war was bad and hurting the planet, endangering all life on Valoran the continent that basically everyone lives on in LoL. This was basically a mock battlefield. The goal would be to solve conflict. If your side won, your nation got what it wanted and vice versa.

That done, I was just about to get back to work-work — but after seeing this rather astonishing post on the League website , I felt I had to write at least a brief comment here first. Did you know that jimmies are a kind of sprinkle, such as might adorn a cupcake? Now you do. My jimmies are presently rustled to a considerable degree. I do not like these changes. Riot has said that it felt forced to remove the League and Summoners, because these elements were too constraining. Below, I illustrate how Factions revises these elements of the story rather than erasing them. And at the end of the day, being angry at Riot or happy with Riot is irrelevant — either way, we have to adapt to follow their changes, which has always been part of Factions. We keep Factions lore as close as we can to League canon, or at least we have in the past.

This stopped a great deal of actual war from breaking out all over Runeterra, although places like Noxus still messed people up old school from time to time. But the entirety of a League match is represented here as a stage. Champions are fighting for their nations under orders of the Summoners, minions are generated by low level Summoners, and there is even an in lore reason as to how the matches were broadcast arcane energy of course across Runeterra. In the grand League of Legends, there is a council of three powerful Summoners who are often called the High Council of Equity.

The Institute of War was the headquarters of the League of Legends , a Valoran -based organization of summoners founded 22 years after the fifth Rune War, to serve both as a political mediator as well as a dispute-settlement organization in order to prevent the onset of a sixth war that would finish obliterating Runeterra.
