Isla Sorna is an island kilometers miles west of Costa Rica.

It is hit often by storms, but its large size provides benefit to the player to add many dinosaurs. It is unlocked once the player has reached 3 stars on Isla Pena. Isla Sorna was referred to as Site B by InGen as a production facility for cloning and engineering dinosaurs. They would later be transported to Isla Nublar for the attractions in Jurassic Park. Its name means 'sarcasm island'. It is situated miles to the west of Costa Rica, and comprises of granite cliffs and dense forest.

GPS and other technological readout may show slightly different one or two degrees to extremely different up to degrees coordinates, suggesting magnetic disturbances similar to those that occur near Isla Nublar which may interfere with navigational technology. In this article we wanted to revisit the second island known to be home to the dinosaurs of this franchise, exploring what we know about this island and, crucially, how that may factor into the upcoming sequel. If we think of Isla Nublar as the public-facing side of the theme park, then Isla Sorna is the mechanical side which keeps things running — producing new dinosaurs whilst also providing a space where Scientists can do their work. In the film canon, we get to see several parts of the island and its facilities. This contrasts Isla Nublar, which was very much guest-centric, and shows how more personnel were likely to be positioned on this island at any time. In JPIII , we get to see more of the island — including large-scale fences, more InGen facilities, and also the embryonic building which forms the core of the InGen laboratories on the island. This building has hints at other things including caging and storage, providing insight into how these dinosaurs may have been created during the years preluding the incident. JPIII also provides a look at the Aviary — and gives us an interesting look at how Phase II attractions for Jurassic Park may have first been developed at Site B — allowing scientists to perfect their attractions ahead of their introduction to the public. This has helped to pad-out how the island also functioned as a hatching ground for the Masrani Global attraction, but we are yet to see more of this beyond the vague hints at the island having since fallen back into a state of disrepair — devoid of any dinosaurs.

Ecological Significance For millions of years, Isla Sorna was home to countless plant and animal species. Most of these consist either of open grassland encouraged by the de-extinct wildlife once bred on the island or tropical rainforest. They were stalked by the tyrannosaur parents along the way, including a chaotic attack during the night which drove the survivors into Velociraptor hunting grounds. Stegosaurus stenops — s? Operations on the island seem to be ongoing even now, hidden from those who do not have a need to know. At some point, some dinosaurs from Sorna were taken to Biosyn 's sanctuary in the Dolomites, Italy, as Dr. The Jurassic Park 3 region appeared to be much more tropical than The Lost World region, possibly due to mountains keeping moisture from reaching the other portion. A young Oklahoman boy, Eric Kirby , was the sole survivor of the initial incident; his adult companion died of injuries sustained during a paraglider crash, and their Costa Rican guides were killed by as-of-yet-unidentified animals.
