The critically-acclaimed black comedy stars Bill Hader as Barry Berkman, a professional hitman who tries to make it as an actor in Los Angeles. Barry has won multiple Emmys for its strong writing and incredible performances, which have kept audiences on their toes with several plot twists. Barry's fourth and final season is much darker than its predecessors, as Barry Berkman's facade is unraveled when he goes to jail for Detective Janice Moss's murder. As the series wraps up, the stakes are higher than ever, and Barry has given fans numerous dark plot twists. Chris discovers Barry is taking part in a raid against the Bolivian gang, and Barry reluctantly takes Chris along with him. However, when Chris wants to go to the police, Barry shoots him in the head and stages it as a suicide. The early episodes of Barry show the titular character trying to leave his hitman career behind. However, Chris' death marks the first time that Barry kills someone out of personal desire, rather than his work. Chris' genuine love for his friend proves Barry is a much darker character than he would like to admit. After Gene discovers that Barry killed Janice, Barry kidnaps Gene to prevent him from going to the police. He attempts to bribe Gene with a role on a TV show, but Gene escapes. Barry tracks Gene down at his home with his son and grandson and threatens to kill them if Gene doesn't cooperate. Before this scene, Barry has threatened to kill anyone who threatens to reveal his identity. Barry's promise to kill Gene's family - especially Leo, who is just a child - is an incredibly dark twist.

Jim Moss is a main character in Barry. He is portrayed by Robert Wisdom. Jim is the father of Janice Moss who, after learning of Barry Berkman 's involvement of her murder, works with Gene Cousineau to finally arrest him. Jim first appears when Monroe Fuches approaches him under his alias, private investigator "Kenneth Goulet" where he attempts to convince Moss that Barry had a part to play in his daughter, Janice 's death. Jim, not believing him, drives Fuches to the police station where he is arrested. Jim is then informed of Gene Cousineau's claims of Barry being the culprit leading him to believe that Barry is in-fact the killer. Jim soon meets with Gene Cousineau and brings him to his home where he begins to interrogate Gene about his connection to Barry after learning of Barry's crimes.

While Barry has dealt with dozens of nefarious goons, gangsters, and hitmen, it's Mr. Moss and his presence that leads to his downfall. Luckily, Barry evades her several times, until she ends up as Gene Cousineau's Henry Winkler girlfriend, complicating matters. Ultimately, Barry kills Janice Moss, breaking the heart of his beloved acting teacher. Despite that, Barry moves on, trying his best to juggle the art of acting and killing. Unbeknownst to him, Janice Moss' father is lurking in the shadows. Introduced at the tail-end of Season 3, Jim Moss, an accomplished officer in his own right, joins forces with Cousineau to bring down Barry.

By Alan Sepinwall. This line by Monroe Fuches is perhaps the most important sentiment expressed at any point during these four seasons of Barry. The series began as a Hollywood satire, illustrating the thin line that exists between killing on stage and killing in real life. So Gene Cousineau positions himself as a great actor wronged by the system, rather than as a jerk nobody wanted to work with. And Barry Berkman keeps telling himself that he is a good person, in spite of the trail of bodies in his wake. All of this comes to a head in a sequence not featuring the title character at all. Fuches has spent the last few episodes giving the most extreme performance of them all as the Raven, but the news that Barry has a son, coupled with the guilt he still feels about being such a terrible father figure to Barry, has ever so slightly snapped him back to reality. But the pain of Cristobal is still so raw and deep all these years later, Hank would rather risk death than admit what he did, whether to himself or to others. So he calls Fuches a liar and curses him out, leading to one final orgy of Barry violence, much of it presented as a single, astonishing take that reveals the grisly aftermath of the shootout between these two armies. Fuches has survived by immediately diving on top of John to protect the kid — the first truly good thing he has done for Barry in a very, very long time — and Sally appears safe behind a column , if terrified and distraught, but everyone else is either dead or dying in graphic ways, like the man with his leg blown off, or the one whose guts are spilling out of him.
