As the first and only osteopathic medical school in Kansas, KansasCOM is deeply committed to serving the diverse medical needs of our communities to ensure access to high-quality care for all. We work closely with local hospitals and clinics — including St. Catherine Hospital of Garden City—to provide a direct connection to local and experienced physicians so our osteopathic medical students can make an impact on their community. Our new, innovative medical school located in the heart of downtown Wichita is the training ground for the next generation of osteopathic physicians. Our state-of-the-art facilities incorporate the latest advances in medical technology. Everyone deserves access to quality health care. Many of our citizens lack basic access to health care, and there is a nationwide shortage of physicians, which is anticipated to increase over the next 10 years. This will directly impact our state and the citizens who need access to care. One study found that 92 counties in Kansas are considered partially or wholly underserved, due to a lack of physicians. Rural areas in Kansas would need 83 new primary care physicians each year to fill the void.

Consisting of our Hotel Dieu site and Kingston General site, as well as the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario and our research institute, we care for more than , patients and their families from across our region. We train thousands of students every year and are home to hundreds of researchers whose curiosity drives them to make groundbreaking advancements in health care. Our KGH site serves as the regional referral centre for cardiac, stroke, renal, trauma, neurosurgery, pediatrics, neo-natal, high-risk obstetrics, acute inpatient mental health, and cancer care. Our HDH site offers specialized outpatient programs such as pediatrics, medicine, ophthalmology, cardiology, urology, dermatology, gastroenterology, surgery, mental health, oncology and urgent care.
