We had me, my husband, our dog, and a new baby.

Firm, yet comfortable. I wash the cushions twice a year and cover them with fleece blankets because of my dog most of the time. Having had such a wonderful experience with Ektorp and several washable slipcovers , I assumed I would love the Kivik just as much. Plus the deep seats allow you to add a lot of pillows pretty comfortably, and I love me some throw pillows. With your review in mind I will wait it out and hope that the cushions soften up. All of the cushion covers, the seats and the backs, are removable so you can wash them. However, color is subjective, so hopefully this gives you a better idea! The Hillared has some linen in the fabric blend. My two cats pretty much destroyed the cushions, but the bases were in perfect condition when I got rid of them as they no longer fit in my decor.
