Bisco, nicknamed the Man-eating Redcap, is a Mushroom Keeper who is branded an outlaw by the Japanese government with a bounty on his head for Mushroom Terrorism. When his mentor and father-figure Jabi began to show severe effects from the Rust he set out on a journey across the country to seek for the mythical Rust-Eater Mushroom to cure Jabi. Bisco is characterized by his spiky crimson hair, emerald eyes and the pair of cracked goggles he keeps on at all times. He also has a red tattoo under his right eye and described to have prominent canines. He wears utilitarian survival clothing and a white cloak which acts as a guard against the Rust Wind on his journeys. Bisco tries to pass Gunma border disguised as a monk.
Once these spores make contact with a solid surface, they will quickly grow into full-grown mushrooms. The spores can grow from any surface, be it the area, the user's own body, and even other people's bodies. The spores spread easier in an area with high humidity. Since spores indiscriminately target people's bodies, Kinoko can accidentally affect allies, so she has to sterilize them beforehand. Yes, there is an actual bad guy in the show but for most of it, the antagonist is this slow-acting but very deadly disease and that really changes the nature of the conflict.
