Hi James, Parallels performance sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues as well with Storyline while using Parallels and Windows It looks that the application primarily consumes CPU.
I've been using SL at work for a while, and have decided to go solo and download it on my home computer. I have an M1 MacBook so have downloaded it to my virtual machine parallels. It seems to run well on first glance but I am noticing that the trigger wizard is very slow to open and use, as well as other bits and bobs. Does anyone know of any reasons for this or fixes I can try as I'm afraid it will slow my workflow down and make the experience of using SL not very enjoyable. I love my Mac and it is lighting quick with native apps on Mac OS. I have some great news to share!
Parallels, the company best known for its virtualization software that lets you run Windows and Linux directly on your Mac, has had a busy year. In addition to building a version of Parallels that can run on Chrome OS for the first time, the company also had to figure out how to quickly make its software work with the new, ARM-based M1 Macs that arrived last fall. Now, Parallels Desktop 17 is being released with improved performance on M1 Macs, as well as full support for the upcoming macOS Monterey and Windows 11 operating systems. Before getting into these improvements, though, it's worth taking a moment to talk compatibility. But, Parallels unequivocally says that when the full version of Windows 11 is released to the public, it'll run on Parallels It officially supports 12 different Linux distros, while M1 Macs can only virtualize four right now including Ubuntu and Fedora. So while Intel Macs still offer the broadest compatibility, Parallels has found that the raw power of the M1 chip means users likely aren't giving anything up running the Windows 10 or 11 Insider Previews. Microsoft's built-in emulation for Windows means that Windows 10 Insider Preview can run almost any bit x86 app as well as "many" bit x86 apps, and the M1's power helps to make up for speed lost due to emulation. As for what's new, Parallels has speed improvements across the board, whether you're running Intel or M1. Regardless of which system you're using, Parallels 17 resumes Windows and Linux up to 38 percent faster, while OpenGL graphics run up to six times faster than the previous version.

The price is higher than it once was, but, thanks to the simplification of the process for running Windows on ARM, Parallels Desktop is the best option for Mac users who need to run Windows software on their Mac. For many Mac users, running Windows applications is a necessity. Or perhaps you want to play Windows games on your Mac.

To set Parallels Desktop to automatically reduce disk space: Select Real time virtual disk optimization. It's ideal for users who have a specific application in mind and who are comfortable using macOS for the vast majority of tasks. And it does not make -any- noise. Parallels Desktop 18 included the ability to download and buy the ARM version of Windows 11 directly within Parallels itself. This means that Windows apps can be tucked to the side of the screen alongside all Mac apps. Fair enough, thank you. Front Page. Hi Ashley, I'm sorry you're having this issue with Parallels! View Deal. I can't speak on behalf of the large community of creative unicorns who incorporate Storyline into their Mac workflow, but I can tell you its larger than you guys thought and I for one am grateful beyond words that you took our issue seriously. If you like it, keep it around.
Parallels is also the only solution officially authorized by Microsoft to run Windows 11 on a Mac. You can even copy and paste files and documents between macOS and Windows as if they were one operating system.
Fortunately, this version of Windows has come a long way since it first appeared in the days of Windows For example, version 17 improved the ability to copy and paste text and graphics between Windows and Mac apps. Reactions: fb Once Windows 11 finishes downloading, Parallels installs it to a preconfigured virtual machine without any input from you. This may slightly reduce Windows performance. Hi Fabian, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! So far so good, vast improvement in the responsiveness of the application. As soon as Parallels Desktop finishes installing, you're invited to download and set up Windows right away. Top Bottom. But times have changed and Apple has now transitioned from Intel to its own M-series chips and left Boot Camp in the past as it is not an option for M-series Macs. Try installing some games from App Store like Asphalt 9 or Castlevania. You must log in or register to reply here. It looks that the application primarily consumes CPU. Top Bottom.
