The controversial annual report card gave the Peace Wapiti School Division school a rating of 5. The annual report is based on Grade 12 province-wide testing, grade-to-grade transition and graduation rates.

Peace Wapiti Publi School District has been given the green light to begin the planning phase of a new high school north of Grande Prairie. The district has received planning funding from the province, which will allow them to do work such as site analysis and scope development activities. Once completed, the new high school will replace the existing Peace Wapiti Academy, which is currently approaching per cent capacity. It will continue to serve high school students moving in from both Harry Balfour and Whispering Ridge Community schools in Grande Prairie, as well as Penson school in Grovedale, Bezanson school, and Clairmont Community school. Peace Wapiti school board chair Lori Grant said in a news release that the new school will provide students with a modern space, adequate room, and diverse and engaging programming. PWPSD officials also thanked the province for the funding, as well as the County of Grande Prairie for continuing to provide sites for future schools.

Plans for the replacement of Peace Wapiti Academy are moving ahead, as the Peace Wapiti Public School Division and the County of Grande Prairie are working together to finalize plans for a new high school to be built in Clairmont. Peace Wapiti Public School Division Board Chair Lori Grant says while there are steps to complete, including the finalization of the Area Structure Plan, having the funding in place from the provincial government and being able to move forward with tangible planning is a huge step for the division. Grant says while it may mean potentially a little longer bus rides for some students, many will no longer have to be transported through the City of Grande Prairie to make it to class.
